A very similar version of this chicken burger recipe using Spicy Pepper Jack cheese was a prize winner! Over the years, we’ve made this burger different ways, but this is what it has evolved into. The secret ingredient in these chicken burgers are the veggies. Anaheim pepper, shallot and cilantro incorporated within keep this lean chicken patty moist and flavorful.
Anaheim peppers are typically more mild than jalapeño peppers, but can vary in heat depending on where it was grown. While California-grown Anaheim peppers may be eight times less spicy than jalapeño, those grown in New Mexico can be just as spicy as jalapeño.
